A warehouse at Gul Drive caught fire last Saturday morning, which resulted in 13 emergency vehicles and 50 firefighting personnel being deployed to contain the blaze. The fire involved waste materials in the warehouse which measured 20 meters by 40 meters. As a result of the large area, firefighters had to take about 2 hours in order to contain the fire and further damp down the area to prevent the fire from rekindling.
Thankfully, nobody was injured in the incident. That said, the fire could have probably been prevented if the waste materials had been stored and kept away safely. Sometimes all it takes is a spark to set off a huge chain of reaction, especially so with all the waste materials kept together in one area.
The fire, which will be investigated by SCDF as to the cause of it, will no doubt put the operations of the industrial site on hold for quite a while. On top of that, the company will also face huge inventory losses as well. As such, by having a fire or all risk insurance in place, the company will have mitigated the loss to a fair extent.
